The early years of a child’s life are very important for the overall development of the individual. One of the main reasons is how fast the brain grows starting before birth and continuing into early childhood.

During early childhood years brains develop faster than at any other point in their lives, so these years are critical. They are crucial for making connections between the brain cells (neurons) enable us to move, think, communicate and do just about everything.

These connections are necessary for them to be healthy, capable, successful adults and for many important, higher-level abilities like motivation, self-regulation, problem solving and communication. It is much harder for these essential brain connections to be formed later in life.

Although the brain continues to develop and change into adulthood, the first 6 years can build a foundation for future learning and life success.
